Our restaurant is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to help out the Chef and other kitchen staff in order to meet the rising demand. The Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for taking an ongoing inventory of ingredients to ensure nothing is running low, cutting up vegetables, preparing side dishes and getting salads ready for special events and regular lunch hours. If you have previous kitchen experience in a busy setting, we want to hear from you. Key responsibilities: Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic. Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately. Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients. Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking foodstuffs and helping to prepare salads and desserts. Disposing of rubbish. Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas. Assist in setting up for groups, including setting tables and ensuring that table accessories are in place. Maintain the kitchen by cleaning prep areas before and after use and making sure that all knives and critical equipment are clean. Monitor side dish ingredients and report inventory levels to the Chef or Sous Chef at regular intervals throughout the night. Work with wait staff to ensure that each order has the proper types and amounts of side dishes. Skills Required: Understanding the importance of health and hygiene (Must have Health/Food Handeling Certificate). 2+ Years experience working in a kitchen. The ability to listen and learn.
