Job Title: College Access Advisor Part time hourly New York, NY, US The mission of New York Edge is to help bridge the opportunity gap among under-served students by providing programs designed to improve academic performance, health and wellness, self-confidence, character and attitudes for success in life. College Access for All - Middle School Middle school sets the foundation for success in high school, college and future careers. Creating a college-going culture in the school makes it more likely that students will aspire to go through college. “The College Access for All Middle School” program model contains three components: Student Workshops, College Visit, and Parental Engagement. The school-based advisor’s job is to implement the model for all 7th grade students in various middle schools. Essential Job Responsibilities: Manage the College Access component of MSTHST program through collaboration with select schools. Provide 7th grade students with the knowledge and resources needed to understand how to navigate the journey to college by providing a series of student workshops on early college awareness. The student workshops will include topics aligned with student career interests, identifying important factors in choosing a college, finding a good fit high school in preparation for college, college costs and financial aid etc. Administer and collect student interest surveys, complete program calendars and maintain student attendance records on a timely basis. Coordinate and oversee a college trip for 7th grade students including transportation, lunch, permission slips and maintaining New York Edge rules on safety. Administer and collect pre/post college visit surveys. Organize and provide workshops for the parents of 7th grade students, related to high school/college awareness and the application process.
